Isla Blanca is not really an island, although its name would suggest differently. It is more of an untouched peninsula between the Caribbean Sea and Chacmuchuk Lagoon, approximately 25 minutes north of Cancun. It is a strip of land with white sandy beaches, turquoise water, virgin jungle with practically no people around (especially during the week, but it gets a bit more crowded at weekends). It even becomes more and more undisturbed as you walk up north, away from the only road that leads you there. It is a true oasis of silence and tranquility, which will give you a different perspective of the Mexican Caribbean if you are staying in Cancun or Playa del Carmen during your vacations in Mexico. We recommend you explore the whole length of the beach and even wet your feet in the lagoon, as it always features warm and shallow water.
Isla Blanca is also considered one of the best places to practice bone and fly fishing, where you will be able to find Bonefish, Permit, Snook and Tarpon. Also, you will be able to admire some amazing and beautiful birds, such as Herons and Pelicans, amongst many-many others, making it a true paradise for bird watching purposes. Also, you can take advantage of the kite school in Isla Blanca and learn how to kite in this paradise. If you do come here, you will truly appreciate your holidays in Cancun and the Riviera Maya.
You will find a couple of restaurants nearby, but they may be too much of an adventure for tourists´ stomachs. Make sure you go with at least some nibbles and plenty of water.
The closest hotels are in Cancun or Isla Mujeres, but we can recommend you stay in Chalet Maya in Punta Sam. This is the most accessible hotel from Isla Blanca.
How to get there
You will definitely need a car. Get on the 307 Hwy in Cancun and then continue straight onto Bonampak Av towards Playa Mujeres Hotel. Go around the golf camp and carry on until a roundabout. From there, get on the dirt road and continue for approximately 11 km.

Mexico is Cancun and something else: Isla Blanca
We understand the hustle and bustle of vacations in Cancun can at times be a bit overwhelming. And here´s the trick: you can easily get away from it and explore secretive and virgin beaches. There exist a few day trips from Cancun that you just do not want to miss. Isla Blanca is one of them.
